Origins of the Bushcare group:  

Les and Rosemary Brister started the group in 1992.

What were your challenges when you first started:

Some of the earlier challenges involved battling broom and other woody weeds. Broom is now scarcely seen. Fluctuating numbers became an issue however through community outreach and Rosemary’s amazing morning tea, we were able to entice new volunteers.

Your key challenges now:

Privet and Holly remain an ongoing challenge as we are currently pushing them back with lots of success. Protecting the tree ferns and canopy from encroaching Ivy is another goal.
