2016 Regional Landcare Bushcare Forum – Bushcare outside the square

Friday 20 May, 2016 @ 9:30 am3:30 pm

Greater Sydney Local Land Services will once again be hosting its annual forum for landcare, bushcare and other environmental volunteers at the Newington Armory, Sydney Olympic Park, on Friday 20 May 2016 from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
This year’s key note speaker is futurist Steve Gould, University of the Sunshine Coast, who will get us thinking about what our work means in the context of a future that is very different to the present.

The day will also include innovative community speakers who will challenge and inspire how you undertake your landcare / bushcare activity, an interactive citizen science seminar and afternoon field trips to get you out and about.

Community Speakers:

  • Conny Harris – Garigal Lancare – 10 years + chemical free
  • Jenny Hill – Leura Cascades Catchment Group – community-driven whole of catchment approach to bushcare / landcare
  • Den Barber – Yellomundee Firesticks – incorporating cultural fire into bushcare

This is a free, fully catered event.

REGISTER HERE.
This event is being run by Greater Sydney Local Land Services with funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme. This event has been made possible through support from Sydney Olympic Park – thank you!

About Steven Gould

“There are many futures; the challenge is to know which one we are in today and whether we prefer alternative futures tomorrow”
Steven Gould is an inspirational facilitator and strategic thinker. Initially from a military background, Steven has worked across a number of careers spanning corporate sectors, state and local governments, and vocational and higher educational sectors. Steven has over 10 years of experience in facilitating futures thinking and foresight methods to a wide range of clients. Steven finds most clients want to know the answer to the question ‘what will the future be like?’ and challenges clients to consider how their current thinking possibly makes their knowing of the future problematic. Steve has found ‘the future’ is a highly contestable and politicised space and enjoys the challenge of increasing one’s shared influence to develop desired futures beyond mere forecasts.
