- Noxious Weeds Act

NOXIOUS WEEDS ACT from The GECKO 1994

The W4 category under the Act may be the answer to our prayers but if we don’t use it we may lose it.  A working party has been formed to push for the listing our most invasive and troublesome  bushland weeds as W4 noxious weeds.

Of the total weed flora 25% can become serious environmental weeds.  Environmental weeds are plants that invade native vegetation and almost always adversely affect the health of bushland.

We have produced a preliminary list of weeds and control actions.  This will need trimming down to an acceptable length.  We need to look carefully at the actions we specify for each plant and get something acceptable to council.

A letter is from BMCC is included, seeking your comments. Recpond if you can, with a prioritised list of plants that you and your group feels poses an ongoing threat to bushland.  The W4 list will be discussed at the next Bushcare Network meeting – see ‘Dates’ section.
